Common questions
How do players join the DM's game?
The DM chooses Run a campaign; players choose Join a campaign and pick the DM's table from the list. Everyone needs to be nearby with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on. The first time, iOS asks whether Tablelight can find devices on your local network: tap Allow.
I can't see the DM's table.
Check that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are on for everyone, and that local network access is allowed in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network › Tablelight. Some public or guest Wi-Fi networks stop devices seeing each other; if so, devices can still connect directly over peer-to-peer Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when they're close together.
Do we need an internet connection?
No. Sessions run entirely between the devices at your table. The only thing that needs the internet is a shared map, since it opens a map website.
Can players roll their own dice?
Yes. Everyone rolls on their own phone, and every roll lands the same way on every screen, including the iPad table display. The DM can also ask for a roll, or roll in secret.
Which games does it work with?
Any tabletop role-playing game that uses standard dice — Dungeons & Dragons, Call of Cthulhu, Pathfinder and many more. Tablelight doesn't enforce any game's rules; it brings the atmosphere, dice and memories.
How does the iPad table display work?
On an iPad, choose Table display and join the DM's game. Lay it in the middle of the table: it shows everyone's dice on one shared tray, a card for each character, and plays the scene's sound for the room.
Why isn't the session scribe available?
The scribe writes on the device with Apple Intelligence, so it needs an iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence, with it turned on in Settings, and the latest iOS. The first time, the device may need a few minutes to download Apple's speech model.
Is anything recorded?
Only if the DM turns it on. With Keep moments, the DM's device holds the last few minutes in memory and saves a clip only when someone keeps a moment. Everything stays on your devices. See the privacy policy for the details.
How do I restore my purchases?
Purchases are tied to your Apple Account and shared with your Family Sharing group. On a new device, open Tablelight's store and tap Restore purchases.
